Welcome to the web site of the Bonsai Society of Greater Cincinnati.  BSGC was founded in 1964 and is one of the oldest bonsai societies in the United States.

Its purpose is to foster the study and  appreciation of bonsai and related arts.  Meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of each month at the Civic Garden Center at 2715 Reading Road at 7:00 in the evening.  Check the Schedule for the latest information, meeting and workshop news.

Members enjoy a monthly Newsletter, access to the society's library, and participation in numerous workshops and lectures.  If you are interested in becoming a Member, or wish additional information, please attend one of our meetings - you are always welcome.

If you're looking for information made available from a previous meeting that was posted below in the past, now look for it on the References page.  Only current information will be included on this page.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!! THE PRICE OF THE CRAIG COUSSINS WORKSHOP HAS JUST BEEN DECREASED TO $50!!!!
Where else but with the help of the Bonsai Society of Greater Cincinnati,
can you get a workshop with such a great Master for this price!!!

This month's meeting is July 22, 2010 7PM at Rowe Arboretum with Craig Coussins

NOTE THIS IS NOT THE THIRD THURSDAY OF THE MONTH AND THE LOCATION IS NOT AT THE CIVIC GARDEN CENTER

Most of you may recall that July is typically our summer picnic.  This year we have moved the picnic to August to accommodate the schedule of an artist of international acclaim, Craig Coussins. Craig began teaching bonsai in 1978 and has traveled the world teaching bonsai in South Africa, Russia, throughout Europe and the U.S.  He has written books about bonsai and authored bonsai articles for magazines around the world.  He resides in Scotland.  Craig brings a unique sense of wit and humor to his presentations.  Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn from a truly international artist.

Please Note: Muchmore Road is closed at the lower end in Plainville, just north of Wooster Pike due to a 60 day construction period of a large culvert pipe.

So here is the detour info: all traffic must come from Miami Road to the north of the Arboretum entry. Not that big of deal. If anyone that would be coming from the south or west, normally using Wooster Pike, just needs to go to Mariemont Square and take Miami Road from there to the north and then turn right onto Muchmore. There are detour signs.

Milford, Terrace Park and other east side people can take Indian Hill Road west from the middle of Terrace Park, go to Miami Road and turn left, go south to Muchmore and turn left.

Those coming from the north can still come south on Miami and turn left onto Muchmore.

Also we can still have the cookies and drinks all the chairs and demo table set up for the meeting in the garage beforehand.  As for the ways and means and library, that benefit is postponed for this meeting. “Trees of the Month” is still fine as well as any raffle. There’s room for them on the work- bench.

If carpooling can be done, it is highly suggested.  We will have parking on some grassy areas and along the drive after we fill up the parking lot at the building.
