Harold Sasaki
Harold Sasaki was born the son of a Nisei Japanese coffee farmer in Kona, Hawaii. His early fascination with trees in containers began when his father pointed out a juniper planted at his birth. Harold "took the plunge" in 1955, committing himself to the art of bonsai, starting with tropical and ornamental plants. An important realization came to Harold while studying Forestry in northern California and Colorado State University. Many native plants of the Rocky Mountains were good material for bonsai. Harold joined the Rocky Mountain Bonsai Society, serving as its President in the late '70s, moving on to become a Director of the American Bonsai Society during the 80's. In 1985, Harold expanded his hobby to a full-time business, Colorado Bonsai Limited. He regularly conducts classes and lectures in several Colorado locations. Harold has conducted lectures and presentations from coast to coast and is nationally recognized as an expert and talented teacher.
